The orchestra performs annual concert series in Auckland, entertains Auckland community at parks, gardens, and Rest Homes, as well as out of town and for special events and functions.
The orchestra takes part in FAME (Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles) annual music camps and international festivals. Read Shona Caughey's account of a concert tour by the Australasian Mandolin Orchestra to Germany and Holland in May 2006, which culminated with the participation of the orchestra in the international Bamberg Mandolin Festival attended by over 80 orchestras from around the world. In 2009, Shona Caughey donated her Calace's Liuto to the orchestra at her retirement from the orchestra.

Mandolinata aims to foster an interest in, and to encourage the playing of, the mandolin family and related instruments. So, there is a training programme in place to teach anyone interested in learning how to play mandolin related instruments. Please contact us if you would like to join. The learners group gets together on Monday nights around 6.30 pm before the regular rehearsal starts at 7.30 pm.
